What? I have to go to school in Chile?

No, but you do have to have schooling!

So what's the solution for schooling abroad?  I'm not really sure.  We found 1 solution that makes everybody  (except mom) happy.  Online home school through K-12.  After much research I think this option will be the best fit for my kids.

BUT..... It did come with some challenges!
First of all, there is a deadline for getting all paperwork filed and the students accepted to the program.  That deadline happens to be in 3 days.

Report cards from last year-- if I were better organized I would know exactly where those are!  I had to call each school and most teachers from last year and request report cards!

Immunizations???? What?  They are being home schooled!  Who cares?  K-12 cares.  So off we go to the doctor to get missing shots all caught up.  ***A good idea anyway considering the move to another country;) The nurse said we were caught up.  So back home to call to call K-12.  No they need this, that and the other.  Back to the nurse who tells me I better go to the health department.  So off to the health department.  Found records there!  Thank goodness.

504 accommodation plans from last year

Birth Certificates
Proof of residency- NOTARIZED!  seriously!
Vision exams
Transcripts
fingerprints from your second cousin once removed-- just kidding!

Now, if we can just get all this stuff faxed over for the umpteenth time and hope to be accepted!!!

Chile, here we come!

Geoff's company asked him to take the family to Chile for 6 months!  We are all excited.  Well, I should clarify.  Ashlyn said, "I'll go for 6 months and I WILL be home in 6 months and 1 day."  So should I say cautiously excited?

I plan to manage this blog as a way to keep family and friends updated on our next adventure.....La Serena, Chile.
